We had to strip out the whole building then start all over again.
All the services had to be changed and altered; also, things were brought up to building standards.

The Building Process
Here you will see the slab being poured. The walls and trusses built and installed, roofing and last of all the outside cladding done in an Axon clad on the existing structure. This is to give it a sense of height.
The End Result
The colours of the building are earthen colours which should not date. The building was renovated and built for easy maintenance and also for fire resistance. The building is quite deceptive. On the outside it looks plain but on the inside it has all the modern creature comforts. Below are the photos of the outside after completion.
The Internal Result
I had a builder/cabinet maker install this kitchen for me. He did a good job of it. It is a two pack kitchen with granite bench tops. He also tiled the splash back.
Bamboo Manufactured Finished Floor
Tip: Before installing skirting boards, paint them. If you will be painting the walls, it is a good idea to paint before you fix. Alternatively, you can paint 200mm above the floor height then fix. This will make your painting job a lot easier and faster.
The concrete subsurface was cleaned and separated by a moisture barrier provided by the supplier. This must be installed to minimise moisture from expanding the floor boards. I would strongly recommend that you read all the installation procedures and follow them if you are doing it yourself.
Kitchen Too Small; Need More Room
The problem with the house was that the kitchen was too small. The owners enjoy to cook but were limited by the space. The solution was to knock out the external walls by 2 metres and extend the roof to make it look original. We installed bi-fold windows and a bench for an outdoor servery.
The Deck Ceiling And Roof
The deck ceiling was low and got really hot in summer. The solution was to build a 75mm SolarSpan roof with a couple of pitches to get ceiling height as well as adequate airflow to make the deck enjoyable.
The Bathroom And Toilet
The bathroom was converted into two rooms. A skylight was installed to make the room brighter and more energy efficient.
Task
The kitchen was too small and the clients needed a solution how to make it more functional. I proposed that we extend the kitchen onto the existing deck and keep the same roof line so that the ceiling and so fits all look original. Below are the photos of how it looked like.
The Re-Roofing And The Front Deck
The house had an asbestos roof, walls and ceilings. The client took my advice to resheet the internal walls so now the interior is insulated, rewired and looks new – because it is.
