We started pulling out the sheeting. As it was asbestos we had to safely work with the material. Once that was complete we did a set out of the area and checked the squareness and plumb of the room.

Tip It is a good Idea to check out the house stumps if it’s a timber house. The reason for this is that when you redo the old bathroom you usually alter the load bearing pressure. A few hundred kilograms can be added if you go floor to ceiling tiles.

Below you will see the following stages which are:- framing, electrical, plumbing, tile waterproofing, laser set out for tiles and tiling.

The Result

The bathroom looked inviting because of the extra light being eminated from the skylight. The window relocation also gave the occupants of the room privacy. The toilet cistern built into the cavity of the walls and the mirror cupboard replicating the hob wall gives it a good look while creating extra space.

Coopers Plains

We were asked by the clients to close in the door to the existing bathroom and convert it to an ensuit after we build them a new bathroom. So thats what we did. The ensuit was to have a spa and they wanted to create a sort of theame. They selected the spa and I helped select the tiles.

First of all we stripped all the sheeting off. We discovered that the electrical wireing was sub standard and called a licenced electrician in to make it right. We also had to replace wood rotted timber and the copper pipe work had to be re routed. Below is a photo of the door way that we had to close in.

First of all we stripped the bathroom and replaced any damaged elements. We closed in a window to give us more bathroom wall space. The existing linen cupboard in the corridor was altered slightly to allow for a separate cupboard cavity to be made inside the bathroom.

The outcome was better than we thought. The bathroom was spacious but at the same time had lots of storage space. The toilet was also tiled the same as the bathroom so the theme flowed on. Mission accomplished, and just in time for the baby.

 

 

Coopers Plains 2

We had cut the concrete for the plumber so that some waste pipes could be installed. All the pre existing copper pipes were replaced. The electrical wiring had to happen and we decided to build a cupboard with the wall cavity so to speak. We used semi framless glass and I built a hob for the soap. We also extended the bulk head over the shower to align with the screen door. I also used chrome quad strip on the corners of the tiled walls.
